Stop explaining what AI is. Just show them what it does.
Every tech-savvy person in India has had the conversation. You try to explain ChatGPT to your parents. You say something like "it's like a very smart search engine that you can have a conversation with." They nod politely. They go back to forwarding WhatsApp videos about turmeric curing everything.
The problem isn't that your parents can't understand AI. The problem is that abstract explanations don't create the "oh, THIS is useful" moment that makes someone reach for a new tool again the next day.
The approach that actually works: skip the explanation entirely. Open ChatGPT on their phone. Type one specific prompt for a problem they actually have right now. Let the result do the talking. When the AI helps them figure out why their electricity bill jumped ₹800 this month, or suggests what questions to ask the specialist doctor next week, or fact-checks a WhatsApp forward in 10 seconds — that's when they become daily users.
