The scams hitting Tamil Nadu most right now
"Your power will be cut tonight at 9 PM, call this number" — the electricity board does not send such SMS.
They threaten that your bank account will be blocked, send a link and take your OTP.
They claim a parcel in your name holds drugs and demand a "fee" to clear it.
A video call from fake police or CBI threatening arrest. Real police do not arrest anyone over video call.
"You won" or "a refund is due" — then they ask you to enter your UPI PIN. Receiving money never needs a PIN.
Paid likes or reviews: small payouts first, then a big "deposit" to unlock earnings.

FAQ
Does this checker send my message anywhere?
No. The check runs entirely in your browser. The message never reaches our server and is never saved.
If it finds no red flags, is the message safe?
Not necessarily. It only looks for common scam signs. Call the bank or company on its official number yourself, and never share an OTP.
I already lost money. What should I do?
Call 1930 (national cyber crime helpline) immediately, report at cybercrime.gov.in and ask your bank to block the card or UPI. The first one or two hours matter most.
Will my bank send a KYC update link by SMS?
No. Banks do not ask for KYC through SMS or WhatsApp links, and never ask for an OTP or PIN. If they seem to, it is a scam.
