Stop asking which is better. Start asking better for what.
Every week someone asks us: ChatGPT or Gemini? And for a long time, the honest answer was "it depends" — which is true but also useless. So we ran both through seven tasks that Indian users actually do with AI every day. Not benchmark tests. Not abstract prompts. Real stuff — the kind of prompts a student in Chennai, a freelancer in Bengaluru, or a working professional in Mumbai would actually type.
The models we tested: ChatGPT with GPT-4o (the free tier plus version) and Google Gemini 1.5 Pro (the version available in India on Gemini Advanced, ₹1,950/month via Google One). We ran identical prompts on both with no cherry-picking of results. Here's what we found.
Test 1: Writing a Professional Email in Indian English
Task: Write a follow-up email to a client who hasn't responded to a proposal for 10 days. Tone should be polite but firm. Indian business context.
