So OpenAI just dropped a new tier
Here's the thing. Until yesterday, ChatGPT had two main consumer plans: Plus at $20/month (light users, casual chat, some limits) and Pro Max at $200/month (heavy power users, unlimited everything, exclusive features). And there was a huge gap between them. $20 to $200 is a 10x jump, which is a lot of money to figure out if you even need it.
On April 9, 2026, OpenAI filled that gap. They launched a new middle tier called ChatGPT Pro at $100/month. Not Plus. Not Pro Max. Just Pro. And the pricing is not a coincidence — it's the exact same $100/month that Anthropic charges for Claude Code. This is OpenAI throwing a punch directly at the coding-agent segment that Claude has been dominating for the past year.
