JioHotstar, India's largest streaming platform, has announced a significant overhaul of its subscription plans that will take effect from January 28, 2026. The changes include the introduction of new monthly subscription options across all tiers and notable price increases for Super and Premium plans.
If you are an existing JioHotstar subscriber, here is some relief – these new prices apply only to new subscribers. Current users can continue enjoying their existing plans at the old prices as long as auto-renewal remains active.

According to Sushant Sreeram, Head of SVOD Business & CMO at JioStar:
"We are constantly investing and inventing to ensure we provide viewers not just the world's best entertainment but also the world's best viewing and access experience."
The company attributes the price revision to:
- Growing content library spanning over 300,000 hours across languages
- Significant increase in connected TV consumption over the past year
- Platform improvements and user experience enhancements
- Hollywood content now bundled with Super and Premium plans
Platform Milestones
JioHotstar has achieved remarkable milestones since its launch:
- 1 billion+ downloads on Google Play
- 450 million+ monthly active users
- Available across all pin codes in India
- Sharp growth in large-screen (TV) viewing
What Should You Do?
For existing subscribers: Ensure your auto-renewal is turned ON to continue enjoying your current plan at the old price.
For new users: If you are planning to subscribe, doing so before January 28 could save you money, especially on the Premium annual plan (₹700 savings).
For occasional viewers: The new monthly plans offer flexibility – you can now subscribe for just a month during IPL or major events without committing to a yearly plan.
Final Thoughts
While the price increase may seem steep, especially the ₹700 jump on the Premium annual plan, JioHotstar continues to offer competitive pricing compared to global streaming services. The addition of monthly plans is a welcome move that gives users more flexibility in how they consume content.
With the platform's massive content library and the upcoming IPL season, JioHotstar remains the go-to streaming service for millions of Indian viewers. The key is to make sure you are on the right plan based on your viewing habits and device preferences.
