WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.26.9.9: Pin Up to 20 Chats — Premium Feature Coming Soon

TamilTech AI summary

WhatsApp’s Android beta 2.26.9.9 is testing a big upgrade to pinned chats that would let Premium subscribers pin up to 20 conversations instead of today’s free limit of three. That change matters because people who juggle work groups, family chats, client threads, and study circles often run out of pin slots fast, and in India—with over 500 million WhatsApp users—extra pins could make daily chat lists much easier to manage. The feature is tied to WhatsApp Premium, the optional paid plan that already includes extras like multi-device support and business profile tools, so free users keep pinning three chats with no downgrade. WABetaInfo spotted the work in progress, and the company is still refining how higher pin counts will work before a wider release. Beta testing should come first, then a gradual rollout, with fuller availability likely sometime in Q2 2026 if timelines hold.
