OnePlus dropped the 15T today — and the battery alone will make you do a double take
OnePlus launched the 15T in China on March 24, 2026 at 7 PM local time (4:30 PM IST) — and the specs list reads like someone at OnePlus looked at every complaint about flagship battery life and decided enough is enough. 7,500mAh battery. That's not a typo. That's larger than most power banks people carry in their bags.
Paired with 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, this thing should go from zero to full in under an hour. For context, the OnePlus 15 — which is already a strong phone — came with a 6,000mAh battery. The 15T adds 1,500mAh on top of that. For Indian users who push their phones hard through long commutes, all-day work, and evening Reels sessions, this is genuinely meaningful.
The chip: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 — the fastest mobile chip right now
Under the hood, the OnePlus 15T runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 — a 3nm octa-core chip that's the current top of the mobile processing ladder. This is the same chipset family powering 2026's other flagship contenders, and it shows in gaming performance, AI task handling, and thermal management.
For Indian users who game — BGMI, Free Fire MAX, Call of Duty Mobile — this chip delivers sustained performance without the thermal throttling that plagues older flagships after 20-30 minutes of heavy gameplay. The 3nm process means better efficiency too, which pairs well with that massive battery to give you real-world endurance that matches the spec sheet numbers.
Variants and storage options
The OnePlus 15T launches in China in three configurations:
12GB RAM + 256GB storage — the base variant, still very capable for most users.
12GB RAM + 512GB storage — the sweet spot for heavy users with lots of media.
A third configuration with higher RAM is also expected to be available.
OnePlus has been using LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage in recent flagships — expect the same here, which means snappy app launches, fast file transfers, and smooth multitasking even with 20+ apps open.
Camera setup — dual system, not triple
The 15T goes with a dual camera system rather than a triple setup. This is a deliberate choice — OnePlus is betting on software processing and larger individual sensor sizes over having three mediocre cameras. The Hasselblad tuning that OnePlus has been using on its flagships is expected to carry over.
For Indian users, the camera that matters most is the one you use most — which is usually the primary wide camera. A well-tuned dual system often outperforms a triple system with a weak telephoto and ultrawide. We'll know more once India reviews come out.
Design — compact and premium
The 15T sports a 6.32-inch OLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate. That's slightly smaller than the standard OnePlus 15 (6.67 inches), which makes the 15T a rare thing in 2026's market: a flagship-spec phone in a compact form factor.
For Indian users who find 6.7-inch phones awkward to use one-handed, the 15T's 6.32-inch screen is genuinely refreshing. The 165Hz refresh rate puts it at the top of the display performance ladder — scrolling, gaming, and animations all feel noticeably smoother compared to 90Hz or 120Hz panels.
India launch — when and at what price?
OnePlus hasn't officially confirmed the India launch date yet, but the pattern from previous OnePlus launches suggests an India debut within 4-6 weeks of the China launch. Based on that, expect an India announcement sometime in April to early May 2026.
There's an important naming note: OnePlus sometimes launches China phones under different names in India. The 15T could arrive as the OnePlus 15s in India — similar to how previous T-series phones were rebranded for the Indian market. Keep an eye on OnePlus India's official social channels for the announcement.
On pricing: the China pre-order pricing for the base 12GB+256GB variant starts at approximately CNY 3,999 (roughly ₹47,000-48,000 at current exchange rates). India pricing typically adjusts for GST and import costs, so expect a launch price somewhere in the ₹52,000-58,000 range for the base variant, with the 512GB version likely pushing to ₹60,000+.
That puts it in direct competition with Samsung Galaxy S25 (base), Google Pixel 9, and the iPhone 16 (base) — but the 7,500mAh battery is a differentiator none of those phones can match.
How it compares to what you can buy right now in India
The OnePlus 15 is currently available in India starting around ₹64,999. If the 15T launches at ₹52,000-55,000 with better specs (larger battery, newer chip, same compact premium form), it becomes the more compelling buy for most people. OnePlus has a history of positioning T-series phones as better value than the standard version — if that holds true here, the 15T could be the phone to beat in the ₹50,000-60,000 segment for 2026.
Amazon India and Flipkart are both likely to carry it — OnePlus has switched between platforms for exclusivity, though recent launches have gone to Amazon India. Watch for launch day offers: exchange deals, bank card discounts, and EMI options that bring the effective price down by ₹3,000-5,000.
TamilTech's take
The 7,500mAh battery is the headline feature that will drive purchases, and for good reason — battery anxiety is the number one pain point for Indian smartphone users. If OnePlus can deliver a phone that genuinely lasts two full days of normal use, that alone is worth the premium over alternatives.
The compact 6.32-inch form factor is a bonus that not enough people are talking about. Premium phones keep getting bigger, and the 15T is bucking that trend at the flagship spec level. India pricing and actual launch date are the two unknowns — once those are confirmed, we'll have a full review coming your way.
