Oppo's most powerful phone is finally leaving China — and the specs are wild
Here's something that hasn't happened before: Oppo is launching its Ultra-series flagship globally. The Find X9 Ultra, which was previously a China-exclusive product line, is going worldwide on April 21, 2026. And before Oppo could even hold a proper launch event, a Geekbench listing for the global variant just showed up in the benchmark database and told us everything we need to know.
The global model number is CPH2841, and it ran Geekbench 6.6 for Android. The results: single-core score of 3,584 and multi-core score of 10,812. Those numbers are exactly what you'd expect from the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 — the chip that powers every premium Android flagship in 2026. The benchmark unit had 12GB of RAM.
What the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 actually means
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is Qualcomm's latest flagship chip. The version in the Find X9 Ultra has an octa-core CPU with two prime cores running at 4.61GHz and six efficiency cores capped at 3.63GHz, paired with an Adreno 840 GPU. In plain language: this is the fastest Android processor available right now. Everything from gaming to camera processing to on-device AI runs at the top of the performance ladder with this chip.
The Geekbench multi-core score of 10,812 is particularly relevant — multi-core performance reflects real-world tasks like video editing, batch photo processing, and running multiple apps simultaneously. A score above 10,000 puts it firmly in the performance tier where the phone won't slow down doing anything you throw at it in 2026.
12GB RAM — is that enough for a flagship?
This is the one thing worth paying attention to. The benchmark unit had 12GB of RAM, which is on the lower end for 2026 Ultra-tier flagships. The Vivo X300 Ultra also starts at 12GB, but the Xiaomi 17 Ultra — the Find X9 Ultra's most direct competitor — doesn't go below 16GB in any variant.
That said, 12GB is likely the base configuration. Rumors strongly suggest that higher RAM variants — possibly 16GB — will also be available when the phone launches. Oppo has historically offered multiple memory tiers for its flagship lineup. The 12GB Geekbench listing is almost certainly the entry model, not the only option.
For Indian buyers, this matters because the base variant is typically what gets priced most aggressively. If Oppo brings the Find X9 Ultra to India — which isn't confirmed yet but seems probable given the global launch — the 12GB model would be the more accessible entry point.
The camera setup that has everyone talking
The Find X9 Ultra isn't just a spec sheet story — the camera system is the real conversation. Oppo has officially confirmed that the phone will have two periscope telephoto cameras. Two. That's not a typo.
Most flagship phones in 2026 have one periscope telephoto — a compact, folded-optics design that allows for high optical zoom without making the phone unusably thick. Having two periscope telephotos means the Find X9 Ultra can cover two different long-range zoom ranges with dedicated optical hardware, rather than relying on digital cropping between zoom levels.
One of those periscope cameras uses a 10x optical zoom and a customized Samsung Isocell JNL sensor. That's a sensor co-developed with Samsung specifically for this phone — not an off-the-shelf component. The Isocell JNL is optimized for telephoto clarity, low-light performance at zoom, and color accuracy at distance. For anyone who's tried zooming into a subject at a cricket match or a wedding and gotten a blurry mess, dedicated periscope hardware with a co-engineered sensor is the actual solution.
The rest of the spec picture
The leaked specifications paint a complete picture of what to expect on April 21. The display is expected to be a 6.82-inch AMOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate — large enough to be comfortable for content consumption, smooth enough for gaming. The battery is a massive 7,050 mAh, which in 2026 terms with the efficiency improvements in the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 should translate to genuine two-day battery life for most users.
The phone will launch with Android 16 out of the box, running Oppo's ColorOS 16 on top. ColorOS has come a long way from its early reputation for being bloated — the recent versions are genuinely clean, and ColorOS 16 on Android 16 should be a strong software experience from day one.
This is a first — Oppo Ultra going global
It's worth pausing on how unusual this is. Oppo has sold Ultra-series devices in China for years, but they've never launched the Ultra variant outside China before. The Find X9 Ultra's global launch on April 21 is a strategic shift — Oppo is betting that international markets, including potentially India, are ready for a premium product that competes directly with Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, iPhone 16 Pro Max, and Xiaomi 17 Ultra at the absolute top of the market.
For Indian consumers, this creates a genuinely interesting situation. India's premium smartphone market — defined as phones above ₹60,000 — has been growing. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra starts at ₹1,29,999. The iPhone 16 Pro Max is even more expensive. If Oppo prices the Find X9 Ultra competitively — somewhere in the ₹90,000-₹1,10,000 range — it could offer a camera system that arguably exceeds both Samsung and Apple at a lower price point.
How it stacks up against the competition
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is the most direct benchmark here. It starts at 16GB RAM versus the Find X9 Ultra's confirmed 12GB base. Both use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Both have elaborate multi-camera setups with Leica (Xiaomi) and Hasselblad (Oppo) camera tuning partnerships. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra has been available globally for a few months; the Find X9 Ultra is coming April 21 and has the two-periscope advantage in camera hardware.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra uses the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 but with Samsung's own camera tuning, which has become less dominant as Chinese flagships have caught up. The Find X9 Ultra's dual periscope setup is a genuine differentiator that Samsung doesn't offer.
TamilTech's take
The Find X9 Ultra is shaping up to be the most interesting Android flagship of mid-2026 for one specific reason: dual periscope telephoto cameras with dedicated sensors is hardware that no current competitor matches. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and 7,050 mAh battery are table stakes at this price tier — the camera is the reason to pay attention. Whether it comes to India at a competitive price is the open question. Oppo's India pricing history has been aggressive compared to its China pricing, and with a global launch happening simultaneously in markets worldwide, India feels like a natural inclusion. April 21 is not far away.
