Oppo just confirmed the Find X9 Ultra — and the camera specs are genuinely ridiculous
Okay so the Oppo Find X9 Ultra has been on the radar for a while, but now it's official: Oppo has confirmed it's launching in April. The company's Find series product manager Zhuo Shijie confirmed on Weibo that both the Find X9 Ultra and the Find X9s Pro will debut in China next month. Pre-reservations have already opened on Oppo's Chinese online store.
But the real news isn't the timeline — it's the specs. The leaks on the Find X9 Ultra camera system are something else entirely.
The teaser — a dedicated camera button
The first teaser image Oppo shared reveals something interesting before we even get to the full spec sheet. On the right frame of the Find X9 Ultra, you can see a dedicated hardware camera button with a distinctive orange accent. This isn't just a shortcut — it's a physical shutter button for photography, something Apple brought to the iPhone 16 series and which enthusiast photographers genuinely love. Having a tactile button for shooting gives you better control and reduces shake compared to tapping a screen.
The orange accent against the phone's frame is a design choice that makes it immediately identifiable as a camera-first device. It signals to the user — and everyone watching — that this phone is built for photography above everything else.
The camera system — let's talk about the numbers
Alright, here's where the Find X9 Ultra gets serious. Based on leaked specs, the rear camera setup is a quad-camera system:
200MP primary sensor — the main camera. 200 megapixels is beyond what most people will ever need for a single shot, but what it actually enables is incredible detail for cropping, computational zoom, and professional-quality large format prints.
200MP periscope telephoto camera — two 200MP cameras on one phone. The periscope design means the telephoto lens is folded internally to allow longer focal length without a thick camera bump. Having 200MP on the telephoto specifically means you get extraordinary zoom quality.
50MP periscope telephoto with 10x optical zoom — a third dedicated telephoto for ultra-long range. 10x optical zoom at 50MP is genuinely impressive reach for a smartphone. For wildlife photography, architecture from a distance, or any situation where you can't physically get closer to your subject.
50MP ultrawide camera — for wide scenes, landscapes, and architectural shots where you need maximum field of view.
Two 200MP cameras on a single phone is not something we've seen before in the Indian market at any significant scale. The Find X9 Ultra is targeting professional and enthusiast photographers who want a phone that genuinely challenges dedicated cameras.
The rest of the specs
The camera system gets all the attention, but the rest of the Find X9 Ultra spec sheet is also premium tier:
Display: 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED at 144Hz refresh rate. That's a large, high-quality display — LTPO means battery-efficient dynamic refresh like we discussed with the OnePlus 15T, and 144Hz is smooth for gaming and scrolling.
Processor: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 — the same chip running in the Samsung Galaxy S26 and OnePlus 15T. You're not getting a slower chip just because this is a camera-focused phone.
Battery: 7,050mAh with 100W fast charging. That's a massive battery for a flagship, and 100W charging means you're back to full in around 45-50 minutes.
The Find X9s Pro — the companion device launching alongside the Ultra — has a squarish camera module similar to the Find X9 Pro, and is expected to support 80W wired charging. Less information has surfaced on this variant, but it's likely a slightly more accessible price point.
What this means for Indian camera enthusiasts
The Oppo Find X series has historically been priced at the ultra-premium tier in India — if it launches here at all. The Find X8 Ultra launched in India at around ₹1,09,999. Expect the Find X9 Ultra to come in around ₹1,09,999–₹1,19,999 in India, possibly higher given the upgraded camera hardware.
That's a lot of money. But let's be honest about who this phone is for: Indian wedding photographers who currently carry a Sony mirrorless plus an iPhone, portrait photographers who want one device for everything, travel bloggers and content creators who need versatility without weight. The Find X series has always targeted that specific buyer who wants the absolute best camera experience and is willing to pay for it.
The India launch timeline isn't confirmed — Oppo typically launches in China first, then global markets including India a few months later. We're likely looking at a June-July India launch if April is the China debut.
TamilTech's take
Two 200MP cameras on the same phone is a spec that was unthinkable even two years ago. Whether 200MP actually produces meaningfully better photos than well-processed 50MP shots is a debate photographers have — more megapixels doesn't always equal better images. Sensor size, processing, and lens quality matter just as much.
That said: Oppo's Hasselblad collaboration (which started on previous Find X series phones) has pushed their camera processing pipeline well beyond what the raw megapixel count suggests. If the Find X9 Ultra handles the 200MP data as well as Oppo has handled previous flagship cameras, this could be genuinely special.
The dedicated camera button is the detail that excites us most, honestly. It's a small thing that makes a real difference in the photography experience — and it signals that Oppo is thinking about the camera as a primary input device, not just a spec to brag about.
April China launch, India availability TBD. Watch this space.
